Candybars, Appetizers & Men

This is actually something I wrote years ago but hadn't shared with publically, only a few friends read it and got a good laugh.

Men can easily be compared to food. They can be candy bars, appetizers, or meals; which one is relative to your man or men?


CANDYBARS

A man classified as a Snickers is a temporary fix. HUNGRY ? WHY WAIT GRAB A SNICKERS! He’s not meant to be long term but it was good while it lasted.

A mr. Goodbar is just what the name says “Good” he’s a nice dude. Good to have around at all times.

A PayDay man is only good when it’s his payday because his payday is your payday! Enough said!

There’s only one more candy bar worth mentioning and that's a, yea that’s right a Butterfinger. He’s an extreme catch. NOBODY BETTER LAY A FINGER ON MY BUTTERFINGER! No lady better even think about your butterfinger, he is hands off. Meant only for you.

APPETIZERS & MEALS
Now Let’s move one to appetizers, dips and the main dish.

Men are like appetizers (dips). You know how you go to the restaurant and order chips and queso as an appetizer but you still want a meal afterwards. Well most men start off as dips. In the beginning they’re what ties you over until you are ready for a full meal.

Sometimes you eat too much and become satisfied with the dip as a meal. (In this case that was one hell of a dip)


In other cases, you may have multiple dips on the table just sampling from each but not eating enough to get full off of just any one. Dips are good and it’s always up to you to decide the fate of that dip.

On the other hand, when you have had enough of that dip you can go forward with that main dish. That’s the dish that sticks to your bones. Makes you want to slap your mama! That "Mmm good!" like Campbell soup. You would not trade that main dish for a dip any day.

BUT don’t get it twisted some days you may want some dessert!

You know you woke up in a cold sweat and made a phone call. Oops, neva mind I’ll leave that to your imagination. LOL

"I don't Have a Preference but All My Chicks are White"

Chad "OchoCinco" Johnson, as most people know recently acquired a show with VH1, "The Ultimate Catch". The first show launched Sunday, and it left a bad taste in some black women's mouth because he only chose 2 black women to participate on the show. Later in his Essence article, he says, "I doesn't understand why" they're upset.

My issue is not the fact that he did not choose more Black women but it's about how he handled addressing the issue others had with it. For example,

ESSENCE.com: Are you surprised that Black women feel the way they do about your show?


OCHOCINCO: I can't do anything about that. I've never heard other races complaining about their men dating outside of their race besides Black people.
"I've never heard other races complaining about their men dating outside of their race..." negro that's because they're not going to come tell you how they feel about you smashing their daughters...you are not their race, you are black! Do not use this as your argument because you cannot validate it!  There were once laws that forbid black men from dating white women. Even though it's not effective today, there are people that harbor the same feelings, regardless of race. Again, it's OKAY if your preference is women of other races but DO NOT attempt to discredit black women for expressing their individual feelings publicly.
 
Further in the article, he goes on about he cannot appease black women, when it's HIS show! Wow! I'm sure they're not looking to be appeased; however, he should have reviewed the rating reports about who watches this type of show. I have feeling that the numbers would prove women, if not black women, are the number #1 viewers of this tomfoolery! We think it's hilarious but his show will not get good ratings because he's not trying to "appease"  the black women, who could have been his number #1 viewer.
 
So my point is this, I have no objection to men dating whatever type of woman tickles his fancy. Ocho is not looking for love, it's about a check and that's okay. Make your money, but do not drag the sisters down because they do not like your preference. I just hate it when athletes let stardom go to their heads! Humble yourself, you can still be great at what you do and not shit on people, excuse my french!

Attraction Origins

I was talking with a friend the other day and we were discussing how people develop taste as it relates to dating and attraction. Is it our parents? Environmental influences? Peers? Social norms? While we agreed there's not only one or wrong answer as to why, we explored our own reasoning.

I tend to be attracted to "tall, dark and handsome" regardless of the cliche, that is my liking. I can trace back the physical attributes to more than one source. For example, dark skin...my father is a shade of ebony with a special hint of hazelnut. As he plays an integral part in my life, so does that specific feature. However, height was not something that originated from him. I cannot trace the original source but I can think back to high school, my senior year...I had a boyfriend that was chocolate and 6'3, I haven't seen men quite the same since him. It's now the very first thing I notice about men.

Now that I think about it, I believe the height affixation stems from my maternal grandfather, who was about 6'5...which explains why my mother is 5'10. He had color changing eyes and his skin resembled that of a ripe bosc pear. He was just as sweet...sometimes;)

Anyway, can you remember where your attraction rules originate?
